Chief Cartier was recommended by the active members of the fire department to the board, and he was reappointed on February 25. Chief Cartier thanked the members of the department and the citizens of Candia for their continued support and looks forward to maintaining and improving service to the town. Candia Fire-Rescue Expands Service with Ice Rescue Training Candia Fire-Rescue is pleased to announce that service for the citizens and visitors of Candia has once again been expanded through the dedication of our all-volunteer membership. Four members recently completed training in ice rescue at a class held in Harrisville, New Hampshire. Candia Fire-Rescue had received a donation of ice rescue equipment from the New Hampshire Snow Slickers, including a cold water immersion suit. Coupled with the advanced training received by these members, our winter response capabilities have been significantly increased. Special thanks to our new Ice Rescue Technicians FF/IRT Ball, FF/IRT Marion, FF/IRT Millspaugh, and FF/IRT Richter. Candia Fire-Rescue Department Sets Response Record CANDIA, NH - Candia Fire-Rescue Department Chief Rudy Cartier Jr. is pleased to announce that the Department set a new record for emergency responses in 2007. For the first time in its history, the all-volunteer Department responded to 400 calls for service in 2007. This represents a 19% increase in calls over 2006 and is an all-time record. “This increase in calls represents a substantial increase not only in one year, but continues a trend we have been seeing for many years. For example, the Department responded to 295 calls for service in 2001 and this has grown to last year’s 400 calls in only 5 years. This, along with many other activities such as training, station duty, plan reviews, inspections and equipment and apparatus maintenance continue to put a substantial burden on our firefighters and emergency medical services providers who are always ready to assist when requested. “I am very proud that our unpaid professionals have allowed us to cover so many calls yet still actively participate in all the other duties necessary to operate a first rate emergency services organization. I expect that our call volume as well as fire inspection and prevention activities will continue to steadily rise, especially this year with the addition of so many new commercial projects.” stated Chief Cartier. “Based on the increasing demands we have faced over a few short years, we have rapidly grown into an organization committed to providing quality emergency services as well as professional level fire prevention and life safety services.” For additional information, please contact Chief Cartier at the Candia Fire-Rescue Department at 483-2202.
